Web Design and Development

You can do just about anything with WordPress.

Many major brands use the WordPress framework as their Content Management System(CMS) of choice. People Magazine, General Electric, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, and CNN all use WordPress as the backbone of their site.  The huge network of developers involved in improving the content management system that is WordPress has made WordPress a hugely scalable and wonderfully customizable content management system.

Form Follows Function.

An awesome web design cannot be underestimated.  However, a website’s primary function is to serve a purpose.  Whether it’s selling snowboards or displaying photography, it doesn’t matter.  A design that does not first address the purpose or function of the website is a poor design, no matter how “cool” it may look.

An intuitive, well organized design sets the scene for a successful website.

Like maintaining a clean store front with fresh paint, functioning door handles, clean bathrooms, etc, it is also important to maintain fresh digital presence by keeping your website design modern and your visitors involved.  An inviting website design with an intuitive user interface(UI), well integrated with other aspects of your business will keep people on your site and encourage them to explore what you have to offer.

A high quality design is next to worthless if not implemented properly.

The implementation or development of a design is crucial when it comes to the digital landscape. Much like a good idea with poor implementation, a good design with poor development won’t get you anywhere.

Make sure to go to a web specific designer and/or involve a developer in the web design process.

Print design and website design are two very different worlds.  Designing for the web means designing for a much more dynamic and interactive environment than for a static piece of print. The dynamic nature of web design requires that the designer either work with a developer or have extensive knowledge of web development themselves.  This is especially true for the proper implementation and maintenance of WordPress sites, mobile-first design, and the growing popularity of Responsive website design. We love our print designer friends and would be more than happy to help you make their acquaintance.
